bored

generalized statement going over the hard decisions people would make in
poverty
- Leads them to

- It does this by
making the activity is making someone prioritize daily necessities in
accordance to a low income and personal desires.
SIX SECTIONS interactive elements and
reasoning
1.
UNDERSYANDING POVERTY-
The Cliff Effect:
a.
Lift fact that asks: Imagine living on $20,090 a year with
a family of three. If you make $100 more a year, would you and your family
still be eligible for federal aid?
i. NO, this is
a result of the cliff effect.
Pie charts
b.
3D compare and contrast budget system of those who receive
aid and those who don't receive aid
c.
visual representation is easy to understand and creates
empathy
Receipts to drive home the visual of the pie chart and the
overwhelming feeling of living on a budget, creating empathy
2. WHO ARE THE WORKING POOR-
3. WHO SUFFERS THE MOST-
Our interactive element is a physical example of
the tangling of economic affects on people in different socioeconomic areas.
Our visual proves that though we may seem very far away from poverty, it truly
affects everyone.
4. HOW DOES IT IMPACT CHILDREN-
Expense flip-up—
This interaction uses a hanging image of school supplies
from a Lawrence school list.
This interactive piece is effective, because all of the
school supplies are neatly arranged and provide a quick visual impact. The
supplies are relatable to the viewers who have memories of the importance these
items played in their own schooling. The reverse side documenting the expense
of the supplies will make an impact when viewed in relation to the content
graphics showing that their small budget leaves no room for such expenses.
#2: Interactive element—Lack of healthcare
Discovery vision panel—
This interaction uses two Snellen charts, which measure
visual acuity. The exterior panel shows the chart at a perfect 20/20. Opening
to the interior panel shows the chart at a blurry 20/100.
This interactive piece is effective,
because the viewers will be able to see how a lack in healthcare can affect
children. Specific to vision, this example makes it is easy to see how poor
vision can have a negative impact on learning. A brief reminder below the
interior chart informs the viewer of the vision benefits from Medicaid.
5.HOW HEALTH IMPACTS POVERTY (AND HOW
HEALTH IMPACTS POVERTY)-
The wire web
visually represents the complex connection between health and poverty. The key
social, cultural, and economical factors are physically tied together to show
how they relate.
